About Company

SABMiller was one of the world’s largest brewing and beverage companies, known for producing and distributing a wide portfolio of beer and alcoholic beverage brands across global markets. Originally founded as South African Breweries in 1895, the company evolved into a multinational brewing giant through acquisitions and international expansion, operating in over 80 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and North America. Its portfolio included globally recognized brands such as Miller, Foster’s, Peroni, Pilsner Urquell, Grolsch, and numerous regional beer labels.

In India, SABMiller established a strong presence through SABMiller India, operating multiple breweries and marketing popular brands such as Haywards 5000, Knock Out, Royal Challenge, Foster’s, and Miller. The company played a significant role in expanding India’s premium and strong beer segments while building a nationwide brewing and distribution network.

A major turning point came in 2016 when global brewing leader Anheuser-Busch InBev acquired SABMiller in a deal worth over $100 billion, creating the world’s largest beer company. Following the acquisition, SABMiller ceased to exist as an independent listed company and its operations, including those in India, were integrated into AB InBev’s global business. Today, the former SABMiller India operations function under AB InBev India, which markets leading international brands such as Budweiser, Corona, Hoegaarden, and Stella Artois alongside several local offerings.

The legacy of SABMiller remains significant in the global beverage industry due to its role in consolidating international beer markets, building iconic brands, and expanding brewing operations across emerging economies. Its acquisition by AB InBev is widely regarded as one of the largest transactions in the global consumer goods and beverage sector.
