About Company

National e-Repository Limited is a national-level organisation in India providing an electronic avenue to manage, create, transfer and store electronic Negotiable Warehouse Receipts for commodities. Incorporated in 2017 and having its head office in Mumbai, the company works under the governing framework of the Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA). NeRL, has been brought into existence by the prominent financial and market institutions such as NCDEX, NABARD, ICICI Bank and State Bank of India.

The company acts as the electronic repository of the warehouse receipts issued against the commodities stored in the warehouses registered with the WDRA and enables farmers, traders, processors, banks and commodity market participants to transact securely and obtain finance against the goods lying in the stores. By providing services through its technological platform, NeRL facilitates the process of pledge creation, electronic transfer, traceability, e-auction, and integration with commodity exchanges and financial institutions. The platform significantly reduces the threat of all the risks that are associated with paper warehouse receipts such as forgery, duplicacy, bad delivery and loss of documents.

NeRL has become a major player in India's electronic warehouse receipt system, driven by the growing trend of digitalization of agricultural supply chains and the rise of warehouse-based financing in the commodity sector. The company is active in a oligopolistic market along with the CCRL and has extended its network to many states with hundreds of clients, warehouse agents, repository agents, and banking institutions/NBFCs involved in its ecosystem. As India puts emphasis on upgrading agricultural infrastructure as well as formal financing of commodities, NeRL plays an important role in being a crucial infrastructure player in the agri-finance and warehousing sector.
