About Company

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India is the largest stock exchange in India and is also one of the largest electronic trading platforms in the world. It offers a transparent, efficient marketplace to trade equities, derivatives, currencies, debt instruments, exchange traded funds (ETFs), real estate investment trusts (REITs), Infrastructure investment trusts, and countless other financial products. NSE began operations in 1992, with its headquarters located in Mumbai; it changed the way capital markets in India operate by bringing to market a fully automated screen-based electronic trading system that replaced outdated open-outcry methods of trading. As a result, NSE has greatly improved transparency, liquidity, and the speed with which users can execute their trades within the Indian securities marketplace.

NSE is comprised of various market places including equity cash markets, equity derivatives, commodity derivatives, currency trading and the fixed income markets. NSE is widely known for creating the NIFTY 50, which is an important index that measures the performance of 50 of India’s largest and most liquid companies in the major sectors of the economy. NSE also provides services through NSE Indices, provides clearing and settlement services by way of NSE Clearing Limited, provides investor advocacy & financial literacy programs. As of 2025, NSE had over 13 Crores unique registered investors as well as thousands of listed companies on both of its main board SME platform, NSE Emerge.

NSE has consistently been ranked among the world’s largest exchanges based on derivative trades, and has played an important role in enhancing the retail investors' interest in investing in the share market and other forms of capital financing in India. The exchange is constantly trying new ways to increase their presence across the globe by using new technologies, new asset types, and increasing foreign investment. In recent years, NSE has been making headlines for their long-awaited IPO process, which has resulted in regulatory approval and the hiring of a merchant banker to facilitate the IPO process, bringing it one step closer to a potential listing as one of the largest IPOs in India.
